On Tuesday, July 12th, BirdNote will release a new season of its podcast, Threatened: a show about answering the call to protect the birds and places we love.
Season 3 of Threatened contains five episodes that explore the unique ecology and conservation of the Hawaiian Islands. Of the 44 endemic bird species in Hawai‘i, 33 are endangered. But, the good news is people are helping these birds fight for survival. Threatened Season 3 dives deep into how humans are answering the call to protect the birds of Hawai‘i, and how the lives of these birds are connected with the lives of Hawaiian people.
Threatened is a podcast that providers listeners an escape into the natural world – and a glimpse into the lives of the people who are working to protect it. Season 1 transported us into some of the most beautiful and remote locations in North America. In Season 2, we heard stories from around the world about people who are taking action on behalf of our fragile ecosystems and the birds that depend on them. These episodes have been downloaded over 70,000 times across platforms by a global audience.
Season 3 of Threatened will premiere on Tuesday, July 12th with new episodes released weekly until the finale on August 9th. This collection will focus solely on the beauty, mystery, and conservation challenges of the Hawaiian Islands. Episode topics will include "Saving the ʻAlalā," "The Mosquito Problem," and "Rewriting the Story of Extinction."
Threatened is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, or wherever you listen to podcasts – and on BirdNote.org. Follow @BirdNoteRadio on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and share your thoughts about the podcast using #ThreatenedPodcast.
