Here is a Snowy Plover in winter plumage on the coast of Washington State. Watch for this petite bird on the beach as it makes short, quick runs to surprise and peck up prey. They eat invertebrates like insects, tiny crustaceans and marine worms. In several states the Snowy Plover is listed as endangered or threatened.
